What is limited animation?

What is a repeat cycle in animation and why would it be used?

It's when they repeat something over and over again to save money.

For example-someone talking and using the same face and body ,just different voices or words. Or scenes are sometimes repeated.

they use repeat cycle in animations like:

.....and many more.

Who first developed the use of a repeat cycle in animation, and why did they use it?

Disney and Hanna and Barbera did it at the same time because it was cheap.

What is the difference between a cyclic repeat and an oscillate cycle?

  • Cyclic is 1,2,3,4 repeated exactly the same order.
  • Oscillate is 1,2,3,4 but then turned reverse order to 4,3,2,1 starting to the same position.
How can a character be created to make 'limited animation' easy to do?

They make it easy to do as they use objects or clothing to hide a part of their head or arms and legs that can be moved and nothing else on the body. Like neck-ties or a prominent collar.

Who developed 'limited animation' and what does it mean?

Hanna and Barbera-they thought of the idea of "planned animation" (known aswell as limited animation)-means recycling the backgrounds and minimal movements.
